Check you're on the register.

INEC has published the preliminary register of voters for the 2027 general elections. It becomes final when INEC certifies it on 15 December 2026. Use the time before then to make sure you can vote where you expect to.

What to check

  • Your name, date of birth and other details are spelled correctly.
  • The photo is you.
  • Your polling unit, ward and local government area are where you expect to vote.
  • If you moved or registered again during the 2025 to 2026 registration, that only one record shows for you.

INEC says the online copy is the original preliminary register, so it may not yet show corrections INEC has made since the public display in October.

If something is wrong or missing

  1. Note exactly what is wrong, and take a screenshot if you can.
  2. Contact INEC at your local government office, or your state's INEC office. Take your Voter's Card or registration slip with you.
  3. Do it as soon as you can. INEC is processing corrections now and will certify the final register on 15 December 2026.

Find your state's Resident Electoral Commissioner and office in our INEC state offices directory. The formal claims and objections window ran at registration areas from 9 to 15 October 2026.

If you see an entry that looks wrong, such as someone who has died or a photo that does not look like a real person, you can report that to INEC too.
